Using animals as part of entertainment exist since the stand of time and this is something that might not change that soon, even though being discouraged little by little. During the early 1920s, there was this little street entertainment in Curepipe where the owner of the pet would train, dress in clothes and use his monkey to entertain people on the streets. The animal in its clothes would perform tricks its master taught it to do and passers-by would admire as the performer was in action.

The pretty thing, though of a controversial discussion, was how children would gather around and enjoy the show, accessible to all of them irrespective of their background; the low-class and the high-class, and it does look how they all got along. This is probably subject to a different discussion.

The monkey would climb on stands and dance around as his master commands. A rare scene that these children will certainly not forget and talk about for a few days more. History books don’t mention much about this happening but through these old images we can certainly live again how it would have been then. Our imagination can do many things.
