In the early to mid 1960s, Mauritius began construction of its first motorway and as of today the motorway has known many enhancements, including addition of lanes and extensions to other regions. With a span starting from Plaisance (SSR) Airport to Grand Bay, the Motorway is the quickest access from north to south and vice versa. Until recently, new roads have been built for a greater coverage through the island.
