This is me and my two children on my return to Mauritius in 2008. I left with my family in 1975 after living on the island for 5 years.
When I was a child my father would bring me here, I remembered its leafy courtyard, spinning fans, pink ladies loo (with pink loo roll!) the cinema screen, the pinball machines and swimming pool that seemed permanently devoid of water! But such memories SO.. On my return I sought it out and even now the sadness of seeing such a beautiful place so derelict and empty haunts me, but I’m glad I saw it one last time .

Thank you for this photo. I was at the Merchant Navy Club when my ship the USNS Vanguard was in port at Port Louis in 1975/76…Had some great times there!
