Vacoas – Dhuny Store – John Kennedy Ave – 1960s

Dhuny Store in Vacoas is located at the beginning of the John Kennedy Avenue and forming part of the main town centre. The Store is among the oldest and earliest trading activity of the town and is still standing even today, in 2014. Back in the 1960s, the street had quite some commercial activities that made the town lively, and most of the movement were also because of the HMS Headquarters not too far from this place. This helped the traders survive since most of its regular customers were at the doorstep. Today, even though Dhuny is still operating, the others couldn’t survive and had to close down when the HMS closed down. The SMF headquarters have their own assets.
